This maul is a heavy - duty splitting axe for use both as a splitting axe and as a hammer for driving in a wedge. It is intended for chopping difficult and very thick wood.
The head is made of high quality tool steel.
The handle, which is made of first grade white hickory, is pressed into the eye of the head and fixed with a black hardened plastic wedge.
